Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious epic draws praise for scale and emotion; teaser sparks excitement online

The much-awaited first glimpse of Ramayana was unveiled on Thursday, revealing Ranbir Kapoor in a regal avatar as Lord Rama. Launched at a grand event in Mumbai, the teaser has generated widespread buzz, with fans lauding its visual grandeur, emotional depth and cinematic scale.
The teaser opens with a majestic entry of Rama into Ayodhya, welcomed with showers of flowers, before offering glimpses of his warrior persona and moments from exile alongside Sita and Lakshmana. A brief tease of Yash as Ravana further heightened anticipation.
Director Nitesh Tiwari said the film focuses on the emotional and moral complexities of the epic, emphasising choices, duty and sacrifice. Kapoor described portraying Rama as a humbling journey of learning rather than representation.
Producer Namit Malhotra highlighted the timeless relevance of Rama’s ideals, while Alia Bhatt praised the teaser as “out of this world.”
Mounted on a reported ₹4,000 crore budget, the two-part film also stars Sai Pallavi and Sunny Deol, with music by Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman.
