From Washington to Chicago, millions joined ‘No Kings’ rallies condemning what they call the Trump administration’s slide toward autocracy.

Thousands of demonstrators flooded streets across the United States on Saturday, joining more than 2,000 planned “No Kings” rallies against President Donald Trump’s administration. From Washington, D.C., to Chicago and Los Angeles, crowds carried flags, balloons, and hand-painted placards demanding an end to what they describe as autocratic overreach and erosion of democratic values.

Organisers estimated millions would participate nationwide and even in select foreign capitals by day’s end. The protests, first launched in June, gained fresh momentum following a series of controversial moves by the Trump government—ranging from criminal proceedings against political rivals to aggressive immigration raids and the deployment of federal troops in multiple cities.

While Republican leaders dismissed the events as “Hate America” rallies, demonstrators framed them as an act of patriotism. Outside the U.S. Capitol, Washington’s rally took on a carnival-like atmosphere, with costumes, music, and chants of “No Kings, Only the People.”

Analysts see the growing movement as a defining moment in America’s civic pushback, uniting diverse communities under one message: democracy must not be inherited, but defended.
