Potholes, faulty streetlights, overgrown trees and damaged road infrastructure identified along key delegate routes
New Delhi, September 5: The Delhi Traffic Police has asked civic agencies to urgently address road and infrastructure deficiencies along routes designated for the movement of delegates during the BRICS Summit on September 12 and 13.
A survey conducted by the traffic police identified several issues, including potholes, non-functional streetlights, overgrown trees and damaged or poorly maintained central verges across parts of Lutyens’ Delhi, south Delhi, Dwarka and areas near the airport.
Police officials said two letters were sent to the concerned agencies last week and earlier this week, seeking repairs and maintenance of the identified stretches.
The survey flagged potholes on North Axis Road near IGI Airport terminals 1 and 2, while non-functional streetlights were reported near a traffic signal close to the National Security Guard hub. Trees along Dwarka Link Road were also found to require pruning.
Several roads, including Tees January Marg, Subramaniam Bharti Marg and Rajesh Pilot Marg, require repainting of zebra crossings. Dark spots on the Ring Road near RK Puram and potholes near Dhaula Kuan were also identified.
The NDMC said it was undertaking necessary road and footpath maintenance. Senior government and traffic police officials are expected to review the designated routes on Saturday.
