Veteran actor says she is yet to watch the film but is delighted by its success; Hanuman Ansh has crossed ₹150 crore in India
Veteran actor Hema Malini has welcomed the strong box-office performance of Hanuman Ansh, saying the film’s success is a blessing from Lord Hanuman.
Speaking to the media in Mathura on Wednesday, Hema Malini said she regularly visits the temple associated with Hanuman Ji and Neem Karoli Baba in the region. She said she was particularly happy that a film centred on them had become a major success.
“Ye Hanuman Ji ka hi kripa hai,” Hema Malini said, while praising the people behind the film. She added that the woman involved in making the film was an “ordinary, simple girl” who did not have extensive knowledge of filmmaking, but still contributed to a project that had connected strongly with audiences.
Hema Malini admitted that she is yet to watch Hanuman Ansh, but said she was keen to see it after witnessing the response it has received.
Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh is based on the life and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, popularly known among his devotees as Maharaj Ji. The film stars Shobhinaw Satyaa in the lead role.
The film, made on a modest budget, initially opened to relatively low daily collections after its August 4 release. Its box-office performance subsequently surged, turning the film into an unexpected success.
Hanuman Ansh has now crossed the ₹150 crore net mark in India, according to the figures cited in the report. The film is also scheduled for an international release on September 11.
The film has received public support from several celebrities, including Varun Dhawan, Preity Zinta, Aditya Dhar and Madhur Bhandarkar.
