Both accused arrested within days as police seize vehicle and register FIR in West Delhi’s Nangloi

A woman was allegedly raped by the driver and conductor of a private sleeper bus in West Delhi’s Nangloi area on May 12, police confirmed Thursday. The two accused have since been arrested, with the bus seized as evidence. An FIR was registered based on the survivor’s statement, and an investigation is currently underway.

The incident has intensified the spotlight on women’s safety in Delhi, arriving alongside a separate case involving the sexual assault of a three-year-old girl at a school in Janakpuri. Opposition Aam Aadmi Party leaders, including Saurabh Bharadwaj, staged a protest outside Raj Niwas demanding accountability, with several leaders subsequently detained by Delhi Police during the demonstration. Both cases have triggered widespread outrage across the capital.
