In its latest release, “Lipstick – The Revolution,” India’s pioneering all-women band Meri Zindagi dares to ask and answer these questions with striking clarity.

Far from being just another song, this release transforms lipstick into a metaphorical weapon,quiet yet powerful—wielded by women to reclaim agency over their bodies and choices. In a society where adornment is both celebrated and scrutinised, the track exposes the hypocrisy that turns self-expression into a subject of moral policing.

Written, composed, and sung by founder Dr. Jaya Tiwari and the band members, the song moves beyond aesthetics to reveal lipstick as armour,something that conceals pain, restores confidence, and helps rebuild identities, especially for women who have endured trauma and violence.
